THE STORY OF MIGUEL, THE GIANT KILLER

Posted on: Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Over in his home country of Brazil, Chilli team rider, Miguel Pupo, can't walk down the road to check the surf without four bodyguards. The paparazzi are just too intense. In Australia though, the young goofyfooter can dance about the streets throwing shakkas to passers by without being recognised. It's peaceful here and he likes it. However, on the Australia Day long weekend just gone Miguel exposed himself, after destroying many big names on his way to placing an incredible second behind Owen Wright in the Hurley Burleigh Pro Junior [riding a Chilli FibreFlex]. News of the big result traveled back to Brazil overnight and media outlets there quickly assigned Aussie photogs to trail the poor kids every move. It's been a lovely and competitively successful trip for the young Brazilian but it's time to split to where he kind find a little solace. Congrats, Miguel, and good luck.
