What a load of fun that was! 🌶️ @urbnsurf just opened their new wave pool in Sydney and we were eager to go test it out. After several sessions in the Melbourne pool, James 'Chilli' Cheal and the team had some board models they were keen to use for the Sydney pool. James wanted a little bit more length in the pool and opted for the stock 6'8" Mid Strength in our EPS Twin Tech construction. He wanted a ton of paddle power but still have that loose shortboard feel under foot. His son Peppa jumped on the stock 5'9" Churro 2 EPS TT for a bit more performance in the pocket, while Blake opted for the stock 5'8" BV2 in EPS Twin Tech to be the perfect small wave performer. All boards in this construction gave an extra bit of spark and liveliness in the pool which made it easier to surf! The second incarnation of the Faded is designed for hollow, heavier waves, this board paddles like a step-up and surfs like a shortboard. Designed with Jay Davies with both overseas travel and pumping waves at home in mind, this board has been put through its paces in places from Costa Rica to West Oz. While it’s primarily designed for hollow tubes, don’t worry, it’ll glide like butter in good waves anywhere from 3 foot to 8-plus.

For the second year in a row we built a pop-up shaping bay on the promenade above North Steyne Beach at Manly, NSW Australia during the Vissla Sydney Surf Pro. The idea behind the buildout being that while competitors pop off air reverses in the soft beachbreaks, shapers could work away in the shack, connect with other foam mowers and ground the event in true surf culture simply by working on their craft in a public space. From this, we bring you our Builders Q+A series: a series featuring questions answered by some of Australia's finest surfboard shapers while they were in the shaping bay working on their boards.

We are proud to announce the arrival of Adriano De Souza to the Chilli Surfboards Family. Adriano won the WSL World Title in 2015 and has suffered a few injuries since then making his past few years on tour quite challenging. Mineirinho has undergone several surgeries on his knee and jaw since pulling out of Portugal in 2018.. On his road to recovery he joined James 'Chilli' Cheal in Bali with good friend Tiago Pires to get some warm water, healthy food and plenty of massages in while trying his new quiver brought over from Australia by James. After feeling the boards and finding his feet again after being out of the water for 6 months Adriano was positive in his feedback about his boards and proceeded to put a few on ice for his return to competition in Brazil the following month in which he looked solid on some lumpy lefts. Moving forward, we are excited to be working with such a respected athlete and good human to continually develop and push the performance of our boards. Stoked to have you apart of the team, Chilli.

The Hot Knife goes exactly as the name describes, like a hot knife through butter. Jay Davies and James developed this model with a few things in mind; A combination of the Peri Peri’s much-loved bottom contours for smooth transitions and the classic outline from the Stepdown 2 for drive, we also added a hip for release when you need it. Board-wise "I had a shorty and a 5'8" slab board I designed with my shaper. On the way to the airport I picked up two stockies. Took me 24 hours to get there.Big Wednesday comes and I ride a stock 6'2" and ended up wiping out so bad (I have trouble riding step ups) and I sat the rest of the day out and watched..it was terrifying, even from the beach. Honest. I knew the next day was gonna be solid as well and when I woke up it’s flames. I took a out my 5'8" and got some really fun rides, I dare say I had the trip of my life."-Lee Wilson

Lee WIlson - Desert Point on a 5_10 STOCK Fader from Chilli Surfboards Sunset Store_To me, Chris Ward in the water is like Basquiat on a canvas. A Raw and unpredictable approach with an end product that one could stare at over and over again. He weaves Unique, stylish and abstract lines through assorted parts of all sorts of waves. Big and small. He has been coming to Desert point for years. In my books there is no backside surfer I would rather watch out there than Lord Ward himself. I was over here to surf this special wave on a Chilli Fader that I pulled off the rack, A board that I have grown quite fond of. This was my third time to Desert Point and the first time I_ve ever surfed it offshore. I hit up Wardo to see if he was down to collaborate on a piece. He was more than happy to. We went surfing, Carlo documented. I_ve surfed some pretty good lefts in my life but nothing that comes close to this. A trip that was meant to be three days was cut short to one due to a wave driving my feet into the reef. This is what happened. We hope you enjoy as much as we enjoyed making it_

A ‘_fun’_ level for beginners, a ‘_progressive’_ level for intermediate surfers and a ’_shredding’_ level for advanced surfers when the conditions aren_t looking to flash.Having width in the outline for paddle power and carry through the flat sections of the wave. A new Double Bump (or aka double flyer) into a Chilli signature Thumb Tail. This allows the tail end of the board to be neatly pulled in so it performs in the pocket part of the wave very nicely, very easily. A slight Single Concave between the feet for speed and Vee out behind the back fin for easy transition from rail to rail. Choose your Thruster or Quad setup (it comes with 5 plugs for your convenience), your desired volume (we recommend 2-3 Litres higher then your general shortboard) and your away. Lee Wison - now rides for Chilli Surfboards, this is his transition over._I recently partnered up with Chilli surfboards. So stoked. I knew there would be a bit of a transition changing shapers and all, so i thought it would be cool to film this change in my life. I got six boards, all the same, but with different tweaks that the naked eye can_t see. I went through board after board. Breaking them from mistiming till I found one that I was quite familiar with. The one. 4 days, 5 broken boards, 1 edit. Please Enjoy, we certainly did. Big thanks to the Chilli team for the film time and surfboards_
